Saturday at Chadderton

Saturday 20th May

After the stresses and strains of yesterday we were glad of a day off! Ken phoned RCR and a chap arrived about 11am to unfoul our prop. With the help of Barry and Ken and the spade we bought to dig a hole to bury George with when he goes (shh, don’t mention it) he managed to get the tyre off intact. There was no serious damage to the prop so that was a relief. Unfortunately we still seem to have the whine, bugger!

After the RCR man went we took George to the Rose of Lancaster pub, where we had our dinner last night, which was not too far for him to walk. He had a good sniff on the way as it is dog city round here (don’t get me started on the poo!) so this took a little while.

Since we arrived here we have been the subject of a good deal of scrutiny. I don’t think they get a lot of boats along here and with the state of the canal in Manchester I can see why! The people around here are not backwards in coming forwards when it comes to staring in your windows. In fact one bloke stared for so long I shut the blind in his face! A little girl nearly bashed her head against the glass she was so close. I expect it will be worse tomorrow, with it being Sunday. Looking forward to it already!
