Thursday 9th June
We have had a fairly straightforward trip today, travelling 7 miles, 7 locks and 2 swing bridges from Littleborough to Slattocks in a blistering 6 hours! The weather has been chilly and showery at times but on the whole a lot better than yesterday. There were a few trips down the weed hatch but nothing major was picked up. We spent some time at eack lock removing plastic bags and other detrirus to eliminate at least some of the chances of getting fouled.
Here at Slack Buttocks it is nice to be moored close to the bank, not at a jaunty angle with a vertical gang plank and not in any danger of being left high and dry as the pound drains! We were going to stay at Littleborough today but the mooring situation was so bad there we had to move on. A pity because – a) I was going to try and get my hair cut. I am currently growing my own busby! and – b) the Red Lion has it’s own, very good beer, at £1-50 a pint!
Tomorrow we are going to go in to Rochdale again on the bus. I will be parking Ken in the Wetherspoon’s while I take M&S lingerie department by storm!
