Little Bollington to Higher Walton (via Lymm and Stockton Heath)

Thursday 16th June

Apart from two fairly hefty showers today it has been a lovely day (a bit chilly when the sun went in though) and we have travelled about 9.5 miles to Higher Walton which is just past Stockton Heath. We left before B and B this morning to go to the sanitary station at Oughtrington because we needed water and an elsan. However, when we got there we discovered that is isn’t a sanitary station any more. You can use the elsan but there is no water or pump out now because the water charges were too great. They do sell coal, gas, kindling and free range eggs! We got some eggs and decided to do water and elsan at Stockton Heath. B and B went to the waterpoint round the corner from where we had been moored at Bollington because they didn’t need any other facilities.

We met later in Lymm, which is a really nice little town and did some shopping. Thursday is market day and we availed ourselves of the pie stall and the fruit and veg then went to the Spar. After shopping B and B moved on to Higher Walton and Ken and I took George to the Golden Fleece. We moved on to Higher Walton in the afternoon stopping at Thorn Marine in Stockton Heath for the facilities.

We are really enjoying the Bridgewater Canal and are going to return after we have done the Weaver for another, more comprehensive trip. Tomorrow all depends on the weather which at this moment is looking grim!
