Wednesday 3rd August
We have finally lost that pain in the arse that was our prop whine, hurrah! We spent most of the day wandering around like 3 little nomads while the boat went in to dry dock again for it’s major surgery. The prop has now been ground on each leading edge from 1 o’clock to 3 o’clock (technical term!) and as we left the marina this afternoon not a sound was to be heard from it, yay! I have to say it was a relief because if it had still been the same we would have been plunged into the depths of despair.
So we have our new batteries and our nice quiet prop and the bilge pump is happily pumping the bilge so all is right with the world – until the next disaster strikes! We were going to go down on to the Weaver this afternoon but missed the 3-30 pm slot for the boat lift by 10 minutes so we will see if we can go down some time tomorrow.
Yesterday we went to Northwich on the bus (£4-40 for a 10 minute journey there and a 10 minute journey back, scandalous!) I was complimented on my hair again, this time by two ladies on the bus. It can’t look as bad as I think! It was a good job we met these ladies because later on Ken lost the will to live while I was in Claire’s, buying hair clips and disappeared. I came out of Claire’s and couldn’t see him but one of the ladies was passing and told me she had just seen him in the butchers across the street. He was in there buying up half the shop as is his wont!
If you are at all concerned about my mosquito bites, (I’m sure you are beside yourselves), they are much better. My foot has nearly returned to normal (actually there were 3 bites on it not 1 as I previously thought so no wonder it swelled up) and all bites have stopped itching. Ken’s wasp sting is also better.
George is ok although he is knackered because he got dragged out of bed this morning when the boat went in dry dock and wasn’t allowed back on it for about 5 hours. It was really hot today too for wandering about or even just sitting but he did really well, bless.
