Whitchurch to Willeymoor

Saturday 1st October

Only one more month until we go back into the marina! With this unseasonally warm weather it just doesn’t feel like Autumn – yet! We have excelled ourselves today and travelled 2.5 miles, 7 locks and the New Mills lift bridge at Whitchurch to Willeymoor and are moored just below Povey’s lock. It was really hot when we took himself to the Willeymoor Lock Tavern but he did quite well getting there. We sat in the garden at the back of the pub because there was more shade there than at the front on the lock and we can watch idiots doing locks any time!

When we left there was a couple sitting out the front who said they have a 12 year old Bull Terrier (not with them at the time) who is apparently exactly like George – old, blind, deaf and grumpy with other dogs! With them they had a labrador puppy who George soon took exception to, much to the dismay of other people sitting there having a quiet (up to then) drink! At the other end of the row of tables was another couple with a small terrier type dog, when we said George was ok with small dogs they said theirs would take on anything and they had to hold him back!

This afternoon I have been thinking about cleaning the boat but I’m afraid thinking about it is as far as I actually got! I did cut Ken’s hair though, then I had to hoover! Apart from that we haven’t done much at all except sit around enjoying the weather while it lasts.

Tomorrow we are going to Wrenbury and then later on to Burland. Had a call from B and B, we should be able to catch up with them at Coole Pilate on Monday or Audlem on Tuesday, unless they sneak off before we get there!
