Aaaargh!! Guess Where We Are?

Sunday 6th May

We have just spent another 2 days at Brentford, deep joy! Yesterday Teddington were hopeful we could go today. Today Barbara spent about 2 hours trying to get through to them but the line was constantly engaged. Finally she phoned Limehouse, who didn’t realise there was a problem at Teddington. Eventually it transpired someone at Teddington had left the phone off the hook! The end result was that we were told the Thames is still in the red, aaaargh!

Tomorrow we will have been here a week and as the tide is about 50 minutes later every day we are now looking at around a 3 pm departure, if we are allowed to go. There is rain forecast for tomorrow and Tuesday so there is a real possibility we will be here for another week.

As we are currently collecting our water a bit at a time in containers and are being very sparing with it I have been unable to use the washing machine so I have been and investigated the launderette in the high street. Tomorrow morning I will take a couple of loads up there and get them washed and dried just in case we have to stay here again. There are washing machines in the facilities block but they run on payment cards, of which I have none and we don’t seem to be able to get them anywhere round here, the BW office seems to always be closed.

George is getting fed up, it’s been ages since he went to the pub! We took him for another walk today along the towpath to Glaxo Smith-Kline and back but he wasn’t overly keen. We went and watched the football in the bar at the Holiday Inn by Brentford Lock this afternoon. If the weather had been better we could have taken him up there and sat outside but it’s like winter here at the moment!

There have been many birdwatching opportunities recently with Red Crested Pochard and Egyptian Geese (see photos) appearing as well as the usual suspects.

So the wait continues ……………………
