Cropredy – Trip to Banbury on the Bus

Monday 13th May

Today we went to Banbury on the bus. The Stagecoach 277 leaves from opposite the Brasenose Arms, supposedly at 10-07 am but it actually arrived at 10-57 am! By the time the bus came we and a lady who was waiting with us, were starting to get cold as the bus shelter seemed to be in a kind of wind tunnel! The lady told us the buses are always breaking down and are frequently late. Fortunately, if the bus eventually arrives, the journey is only about 15 minutes.

When we got to Banbury the first thing we did was go to the Dulux Decorator Centre and pick up another tin of red paint. We have already used half of the one we recently bought and if we are to keep up our resolution to keep the boat looking smart we don’t need to be running out!

There followed trips to Morrison’s, Wilkinson’s and of course Wetherspoon’s before catching the (punctual) bus back to Cropredy. We arrived at the boat just in the nick of time as the weather went tits up once more as soon as we got in.

Tomorrow we are off at last to Fenny Compton.
