Wednesday 22nd May
We set off relatively early today, about 8 am (aaargh!) and travelled 6 miles and the 2 Glascote locks from Polesworth to Fazeley. Two boats pulled out behind us from the visitor moorings after Bridge 54 and were following us really closely until we passed Alvecote Marina, then they disappeared.
We are moored on the 7 day moorings here at Fazeley between the junction and Peels Wharf. It is a bit noisy here with some piece of machinery opposite intermittently starting up. Don’t know what it is but I hope it will cease before bed time!
We arrived just before 11 am, Mick and Cathy rolled up shortly afterwards and moored in front of us. Then, you will be surprised to hear, we all had a nice cup of tea!
After we had sorted ourselves out we went to the shop (Tesco Express) and then, reverting to type, went to The Three Horseshoes, a nice local type pub, where we partook of some very good Bass.
Tomorrow we are going to Tamworth on the bus. As it is not very far and the buses are frequent, before we go, Ken and Cathy are going to fill their respective stern greasers, I am going to clean the starboard side of our boat, removing last night’s deposit of bird poo, from where we moored up under some trees and I don’t know what Mick is going to do.
