Here’s another double whammy as Sunday was a bit dull!
Sunday 30th June
It went a bit like this – Got up. Had tea. Did crossword. Had a wash and got dressed. Had fruit. Had coffee. Emptied gas locker ready for BSC retest. Went to Sainsbury’s for a stock up. Came back and unpacked shopping. Walked down to The Cape of Good Hope, (see photos of their unusually painted windows and door). Came back and had tea and a Mr Kipling’s. Fell asleep. Woke up. Had dinner. Did hoovering and dusting (me). Did a bit of unfruitful fishing (Ken). Watched a programme about Lincoln Prison (very interesting) and The Returned (good series) then watched the Confederations Cup Final, Brazil v Spain, (kick off 11pm!) Went to bed.
Monday 1st July
Good job all my posts aren’t like that, how dull they would be! Now, today has been a good one. Mainly for the fact that we have finally had our retest and passed our BSC inspection, hurrah! Nigel arrived this morning at more or less when he said he would, tested the gas and everything is fine.
This is a great relief to us and means we don’t have to worry about it again for the next 4 years. We can also now continue with our planned cruise. We have had a really lovely time while we have been here at Saltisford and can thoroughly recommend it as a good place to stop in Warwick but we are looking forward to pastures new. Well, I say new, some places we are about to go we have actually been to before, when we hired Dabchick from Bidford with Alan.
Next we are going to Stratford, as I may have already mentioned, then from there we are going down the River Avon to Tewkesbury, (which we have done) on to the River Severn and down to the Gloucester and Sharpness (which is new to us). After that we will decide where next.
When Nigel had gone we went to Sainsbury’s (again) and did our final stock up of fresh stuff before we leave. We put the shopping away then we walked to Bailey’s of Warwick ———– the fishing tackle shop, hurrah! This one proved quite easy to find and was about a 20 min walk from here. A supply of ground bait secured, we walked back in to town and went to Rump’s the Butcher’s (great name for a butchers) and got sausages and a dozen eggs (one of which I managed to scramble on the way back!) and finally we went you know where for a well deserved sit down.
This morning I also renewed our insurance and it was £5 cheaper than last year, bonus! This afternoon I managed to do a final load of washing get it dried and ironed. And finally, our gas bottle ran out while Ken was cooking the dinner, meaning we can get a new one from here, where it is really convenient, before we leave tomorrow. It’s all good. With our track record for attracting disaster this can only be a temporary state!
