Is It Spring?

Today has been a really lovely day, positively springlike! After some pretty heavy rain over night it has been sunny and warm. As it has been so cold and miserable lately it obviously appeared to be a lot warmer than it actually was though! We were going to walk to Leicester today but as the forecast was for rain (and it was raining when we got up) we decided to go tomorrow instead. Hopefully it will be a nice day like today. It takes us an hour and a half to walk along the towpath to West Bridge in Leicester. It’s not a bad walk actually but the amount of crap in the river between Belgrave and the North Lock is heartbreaking.

We took George to his favourite pub today. He took absolutely ages to get there today and even longer to get back! He spends a lot of time just standing there looking as if he is trying to work out where he is. We know he can’t see all that well and obviously his hearing isn’t up to much either so it’s hardly surprising he needs to check where he is but it can be quite frustrating to have to keep stopping every few yards, so he can gawp round, especially when we are on a route he has done several times before. Sometimes he won’t go for a walk at all. Sometimes, however, he goes like Hell and even looks as if he is enjoying it, so we just have to work out which mood he is in and go with it (or not as the case may be!)

Today would have been a good cruising day with the warm sunny conditions and light wind. We could have gone for a little tripette up to Sileby or somewhere I suppose but we didn’t realise it was going to be so nice until it was a bit late. I sometimes think we  forget we are mobile and can go off when ever we want to. We have got into a bit of a rut here too. Never mind we will soon be off.
