The Fog Finally Lifts – Trip to Sharpness

Saturday 15th March

We didn’t go anywhere yesterday in the end because the fog was worse than ever and it seemed pointless to move. But this morning, after 5 days of being shrouded in fog, we could actually see! Taking advantage of the nice weather we decided to go down to Sharpness for one last look before we leave the Gloucester and Sharpness Canal at the end of the month. We had a good trip, stopping for water at Purton and arrived at Sharpness about 11 am.

After mooring up we decided to walk to the village shop. We went via the docks, over the lock and up the hill. On the way back we went to the Docker’s Club and watched Leyton Orient lose to Brentford! We met up with the chap who’s boat is called ‘Florence E’ and had a very interesting chat about some of the venues we are hoping to visit this year, Lincoln and Boston in particular. It is always useful to talk to someone who has been there before.

We haven’t decided what we are going to do tomorrow.
