Goldstone Wharf to Market Drayton – Lovely spring day!

Today has been another lovely warm Spring day and we have travelled only 3.5 miles and 5 locks from Goldstone Wharf to Market Drayton. Three boats went past before we left but we were lucky with the locks because when we got to Tyrley Locks the last of them was entering the lock. We stopped for water and got the lock ready while we were waiting. At the next lock a single hander was then coming up and he had left the third one open. At the fourth lock the fudge boat was coming up and they had left the last one open so we had an easy descent.

After Tyrley Locks it is less than a mile to Market Drayton. We are moored on the 48 hour moorings before Bridge 62 far enough back so as to not be opposite the houses or the permanent moorings. There are still a few spaces here but boats are well spaced out.

We needed a few supplies so we went off to Asda and Wetherspoon’s! We sat outside the pub and it was really warm. This afternoon I had to tackle the European Ironing Mountain which seemed to have taken over Ken’s side of the dinette! I was unable to do it yesterday because with all the moored boats along the canal we weren’t able to get enough revs on the engine to run the iron! That was my excuse anyway.

Ken is not fishing tonight, he is nursing his injured thumb which he contrived to shut in the bathroom door earlier, bless!

Tomorrow we are going to Audlem which entails doing 20 locks with the 5 at Adderley and the Audlem 15. I am hoping the cake and scone stall on Adderley locks is open, I am also hoping for a Shroppie Fly Burger when we get to Audlem!
