Mountsorrel to Zouch – A Really Lovely Day

Thursday 8th April

It’s been a really good day! Last night we went for a drink with Terry and had a lovely evening. We did exceed the stated though and we didn’t get home until nearly midnight (very unusual for us!) but we were still up and about this morning as usual. We left Mountsorrel bathed in brilliant sunshine. Sunshine which stayed with us all day. As I was on lock duty, sometimes I was even a bit too hot! I know, there’s no pleasing some people!

We were amazed to find no one moored at the facilities in Barrow when we got there, so we could use them straight away. Wonders will never cease! We stopped in Loughborough so Ken could make a trip to B & Q for essential DIY supplies. As we approached The Albion we decided George needed to go for a pint so we stopped there as well. The ‘Iron Maiden’ was a little on the warm side but ok. The toilets, however, were a bit dodgy!

I had a bit of trouble with Loughborough Town Lock today, being unable to open it, for Ken to get in, he had to help me. Then being unable to close it after he had gone out, a man appeared from a nearby garden to assist! There were also a couple of strange teenagers wandering about there, going on about Rosie and Jim!

We arrived at Zouch (pronounced Zotch) by late afternoon, moored up and spent the early evening sitting out on the bank in the sun – marvellous! This is what it’s all about.
