Friday 23rd April
Well, here we are, still in the same place. We decided to stay here today and make sure our charging problem really is cured. I am pleased to say it is, hurrah! Tomorrow we will probably move on to Weston, or just outside, for the weekend. Then next week we will go to Stone, Stoke on Trent and on through the Harecastle Tunnel before turning on to the Macclesfield Canal. That’s the current plan anyway.
We have had a lovely day today, the weather has been superb, after another early frost. We took our rubbish down to Anglo Welsh, then we went to the Canalside Farm Shop. Very nice shop and not too pricey, although these places often are. We had been recommended the bread by a chap moored further down so we got some. It was nice bread but not exceptional! Enjoyed the sandwiches though.
We fared better with our obstinate (euphemism for fat and lazy!) dog today. After an aborted first attempt, when we had a feeling of de ja vu, we persevered and managed to get him into Little Haywood to the Red Lion. This was, we discovered, a lot further than the Clifford Arms in Great Haywood but as George had not been there he didn’t notice! I’m afraid I didn’t take my camera though so he can’t give you the benefit of his thoughts. I think he liked it though as the landlord gave him a biscuit and a chew! He walked there and back quite well despite the fact that it had got out really hot, bless! Maybe he’ll go for a walk ok tomorrow at Weston, who knows?
