It has been a really lovely day today and we left early to tackle the 10 miles and 12 lock trip to Warwick. I say we left early, Ken did, I was still in the bathroom when he pulled away from the mooring!
We had about a mile and a half to go before our first lock so he decided to make a start. The first 2 locks were a staircase and then there were 2 more straight after. Our luck of the last couple of days had run out as they were not in our favour today.
This continued for the next 2 as well. Then we had a change of fortune because a boat came off some moorings in front of us so we did the next 4 locks with this very nice couple, Tony and Emma, who had matching grey plaited hair. The locks were for us this time so it was easier.
At Radford Semele, where we were originally going to stop but didn’t, Tony and Emma stopped so we continued alone again. At Leamington Spa we had to stop to moor up a boat which had slipped it’s moorings and had drifted across the canal. As we were doing this a couple of community police persons (one male, one female) appeared and wondered what we were doing. They seemed surprised that we would bother to stop and tie up someone elses boat for them.
Round the corner from this, at the Moorings pub, we were joined by another boat and we did the last 2 locks at The Cape Of Good Hope pub with them.
They were looking for someone to do the Hatton flight with tomorrow but we couldn’t oblige because we aren’t going that way. And anyway we are stopping in Warwick for over a week because Mum and Dave are coming for a visit, which we are looking forward to very much.
We are now moored in the Saltisford Canal Arm where we spent a lovely 3 weeks in 2013. As soon as we had moored up and connected the electric cable we hot footed it to town and the pub, hoorah! I got a paper and went to Boots for essential first aid supplies as well. I also arranged to have my hair cut in the same hairdressers I used when we were here before.
