Strines to Bugsworth Basin

Friday 21st May.

Here we are at Bugsworth Basin for the weekend, having negotiated an extra day’s mooring (should only be 48 hours) until Monday morning. It is deep here, hurrah no problem mooring for once!

We have travelled about 6 miles, which included 2 lift bridges and 2 swing bridges, one of which I had a slight problem closing! We also went up the Whaley Bridge arm for a look but it was a bit of a disappointment and there was nowhere to moor anyway so we came back to Bugsworth Basin. This is a very unusual place with several basins to moor in. I can’t go into huge detail as there is so much to say so if you’re interested look it up on the internet. We are in the middle basin along with, at the moment, 2 other boats. There are several other boats in the other basins and little nooks and crannies. It will probably fill up a bit more over the weekend as the weather is predicted to be nice.

In close proximity to us here is The Navigation (of course it is!) and about 10 mins walk away is Tescos so we are well catered for! The internet is ok (as you can see) and the satellite dish is working too so I can see the last part of Ashes to Ashes tonight. Marvellous.
