Shobnall to Willington

Today we have travelled 5.5 miles and 1 lock from Shobnall to Willington and are moored on the visitor moorings just beyond The Dragon. It was a good trip with a stop over in Horninglow for water and to empty the loo. All the floating market boats were still in situ when we went through the fields at about 8am, allaying any fears we had of a log jam at Dallow Lane Lock or the sanitary station at Horninglow.

I did a bit of cleaning during the rest of the journey and we arrived at Willington about an hour and a half later. On arrival we were going to quickly pull in to Willington sanitary station so I could get off to get rid of our rubbish as there is no rubbish disposal at Horninglow. Of course there was a boat already on there so Ken put the nose in to the winding hole and I was about to leap off when the people on the sanitary station and the ones a boat waiting across the canal started gesticulating wildly that the boat across the canal was next.

I shouted to both that I only wanted to drop my rubbish off then I realised it was Pam and Ted on the sanitary station and they realised it was us. Pam said she would take the rubbish so I lobbed it off the front and we buggered off, much to the relief of the chap who was waiting!

We moored up and went off to the Post Office to collect some mail Mum had sent and the Coop. In the Coop we got about £14 of fruit off the reduced counter for £1-10! Can’t be bad.

After stowing our shopping we went off to The Dragon and met Mick and Cathy again. We had a free lunchtime using our accumulated points on our Dragon loyalty card. Bonus.

Tomorrow we are going down to Ragley Boat Stop.
