Congleton

Monday 31st May

My elbow is a lot better today, thank goodness. I was a bit worried last night when I couldn’t bend my arm. It is still fairly swollen but at least it will bend now. Ken, it has to be said, has been singularly unsympathetic to my plight …………… git!

Another disaster which has befallen us recently, someone has nicked our umbrella! Well someone may have nicked our umbrella, we don’t really know what happened to it. We can last remember using it on the way to Gurnett as it was showery. Ken put it on the top of the boat to use as and when. By the time we got to Macclesfield it was fine so he didn’t take it when he went to the shop while I was getting the water and leave it there. When we got to Gurnett it was fine and we took George to the pub. The only thing we can think of was we left it on the top of the boat when we went out and someone had it away. It couldn’t have fallen off the boat because of the handrail. It’s a mystery.

George has had a lovely day today. Firstly he had half our squidgy egg and tomato sandwiches at lunchtime. Then we took him to the pub where he got a pat off the landlady.  This afternoon he has made friends with some children off the two boats moored up behind us. Two young German girls, who speak better English than what I do and a girl and a boy on a short break with their Mum and Granddad. I had George outside to give him a brush when he was besieged by these children and of course he loved it! He was quite reluctant to go back in the boat.

Having seen the forecast for tomorrow (rain all day again!) we will probably stay here and perhaps do a bit of shopping. No point in travelling in bad weather if you don’t have to.
