Today has been a very nice day. We left Beeston this morning at just after 9 am and were in luck with the lock because as we were ready to leave the water point a boat was then going to go up so we went in with them. There was also a boat waiting to go down up so I didn’t have to do anything.
We had an uneventful trip to Cranfleet Lock, which was manned by volunteer lock keepers so another easy one for me. We found a nice mooring in Cranfleet Cut before the railway bridge but discovered this was for Permit Holders only. It probably wouldn’t have mattered but we moved up and are now moored almost opposite the Trent Valley Sailing Club.
We spent a happy hour or so people watching at The Trent Lock. It is amazing what some people consider to be appropriate clothing for their size and shape! We then returned to the boat to finish the lemon cake, yum. While we were doing this we met Reg, a lovely tri-coloured Bull Terrier out with his owners and his little Patterdale mate.
Ken has been doing a bit of fishing for bait this afternoon hoping for great things later no doubt!
