Wednesday at Marple – What no rain??

Wednesday 21st July

Surprisingly, after a very wet night, it hasn’t rained today! Despite all the rain yesterday and overnight we are still jammed on the bottom at a jaunty angle! It is strange to us that nothing happens to the water levels when there is a lot of rain. If we were still in Thurmaston we would be about 2ft over the moorings by now and the waterpark would be impassable!

We have made a couple trips to the shops again today, having a bit of a stock up while the going is good. A funny thing happened when we were at the pub lunchtime. The Ring ‘o’ Bells terrace is quite high above the canal, Ken was looking down to the towpath and there was Jeff off ‘AventGotOne’ (we still haven’t asked!) looking up. When he spotted Ken he said ‘Ah, we thought we’d find you there! We’ll be up in a minute.’ He and Jill had just come back from Higher Poynton, saw our boat on the way past, noticed it was lunchtime and decided we must be at the pub. After they moored up themselves they came to see if we were. We just can’t understand it, we must be getting a bit of a reputation! Anyway we had a couple of drinks and a nice chat with them.

Later we had to get our errant dog to the vets for his booster injections. We thought we would have trouble getting him to walk there but he went like a dream and we were early! Bless.

Tomorrow we are off to either Higher Poynton or Fourlane Ends depending on mooring availability. We have 2 weeks to get back to Stone when Mum and Dave and Tony and Trish are visiting for Ken’s birthday.
