Back from Portsmouth – Waiting for jobs to be finished.

Yesterday we returned from Mum’s where we spent a couple of days on the way back from Portsmouth. We had a lovely few days in Portsmouth with Peter – visiting the Historic Dockyard again, seeing the Victory and the Warrior on Wednesday, the D Day Museum and Southsea Castle on Thursday and Beaulieu Motor Museum on Friday.

Saturday afternoon it rained and rained and rained! Good job we were back in Suffolk and not intending to go any where. Sunday the weather was much better and we had a nice walk in Southwold with a visit to The red Lion in the middle. As you do!

Monday we came back to Kingfisher and were pleased with the work they had already done. The blacking is done, the windows have been fitted in the side hatch doors, the cratch board is made, painted, glazed and fitted. The powder coated mushrooms and upstands are on as are the fairleads, ladder rack and new front and back fenders.

The new internal glazed windows will be fitted on Friday and then, as the new cratch cover will probably not arrive until next week, we are going to go back to Sawley. I have the European washing mountain to do but here we are not very conveniently moored near a tap and we have no shoreline electric. I think it would be just as well to wait until we can get back to the marina and do it all in one go.

Before we leave here I will be cleaning the boat (again) removing all the detritis that was deposited on my newly cleaned surfaces by the pressure washing before the blacking. And removing the footprints from my newly cleaned roof deposited while fitting the mushrooms and ladder rack. Yes, Ken did say it was pointless me cleaning the boat before they did the work but I wouldn’t listen would I?

While we were away we also had the boat serviced so we will be ready for some serious cruising! There are still some things which we have to do but we will fit them in during this Summer’s travels.
