Thursday 19th August
This morning Ken fitted the new water pump. There was no swearing or cursing! Even when it was discovered that the new one wouldn’t fit in the space vacated by the old one and pipes had to be cut etc. It works like a dream, coming on when we turn the tap on and going off when we turn the tap off, just like it’s supposed to. Unlike both it’s predecessors, neither of which, we have come to realise now, worked properly in the first place! I’m really chuffed and obviously easily pleased!
After this we moved on about 3 miles to Goldstone Wharf, Cheswardine. There is no shop here but there is a handy pub! George was coveted by a chap who was having a meal in the restaurant and spotted him through the window. He came out for a pat and said he had always wanted a ‘Bullseye’ dog. He nearly missed his sticky toffee pudding while he was patting him!
The moorings are quite nice and peaceful although there are a few boats here now. We must make it up to Market Drayton tomorrow as we are running dangerously low of essential supplies – I’m down to my last 2 cans of Guinness and we have only one potato!
