We were just about ready to go this morning when a boat came towards the lock. We quickly cast off and went in with them which was handy. There followed a 3 hour trip down the River Severn to Tewkesbury. I spent this time cleaning as I haven’t managed to do any since we left Warwick and the floor was now so dirty you had to keep your shoes on and wipe your feet on the way out!
When we arrived at Tewkesbury we could have moored on the Avon but to do this we would have had to go up the lock and pay the temporary license fee. As we are going on to Gloucester this would have been pointless. There are some moorings on the Severn and there was only one small cruiser on them so we easily got moored up here.
After mooring we went in to town for some salad for us tea. I was going to make a lasagne but with it being so hot I am loath to put the oven on so we also got a rather delicious looking Gloucester Old Spot pork pie and some Gloucester Old Spot sausages for later in the week, mmm!
On our return to the boat we visited the lock to pay our £5 mooring fee and to enquire as to what would be a good time to leave tomorrow to do the tidal bit of the river to Gloucester. The lock keeper said 8 am would be good which is ideal for us as it is our usual time for leaving.
