Ellesmere to Grindley Brook

Friday 8th October

Today we have travelled 13 miles (and 5 lift bridges!) from Ellesmere back to Grindley Brook. Although mild, it has been dull all day. A man we were talking to at Ellesmere before we left said he didn’t think it would get out today – he was right.

With all the lift bridges to do we have been leapfrogging Mick and Cathy on their boat The Crafty Foxes all day. We are now moored together at Grindley Brook and we ended up at the pub together too! We were admiring the rather nice paintings of foxes they have on the side of their boat, done by an artist local to their marina which is – Mercia. It was handy meeting them as we are going in there for the winter so we got some useful information.

We are aiming to get to Wrenbury tomorrow so we will be doing the staircase and the three other locks here. Hopefully it won’t be as busy as it was when we came up!
