Brewood to Coven

Sunday 17th October

Brrrr, a cold start today with a frost, but it’s been a beautiful day. We have come 6 miles and 1 lock to Coven. We met few boats on the way here but the ones we did meet were at inconvenient places! Such as in the really narrow cutting or under a bridge which went round a corner, that sort of thing.

We moored up a little way past the Fox and Anchor and whose boat should be here? Mick and Cathy’s. Of course we took George to the pub and it was really warm sitting outside in the sun, I was over dressed! There was no sign of Mick and Cathy at the pub (unusual) but we did see the chap we had been talking to last time we were here. He had his dog with him so we couldn’t sit with him.

After a while Mick and Cathy turned up, they had been in to Wolverhampton on the bus. They went and put their shopping away then joined us. We thought we had a head start on them but they had already had a couple in the Wetherspoon’s in Wolverhampton! It would have been churlish not to so we had another couple and exceeded the stated. It was getting on for George’s dinner time when we got back.

The tv signal is not very good here but I expect we will fall asleep fairly soon anyway! Penkridge tomorrow.
