Branston to Burton to Willington

Sunday 31st October

Yesterday we moved the short distance from Branston to Burton and went into town. Ken needed maggots and I needed a new phone as mine has been decidedly dodgy since the flooding incident!

Burton is a nice town for shopping, with a high street and two shopping malls. I’m sure we will go there quite often during our stay at the marina. The buses run from near the marina and funnily enough they stop right outside the Wetherspoon’s in town!

Today we moved to Willington, the village near the marina. We walked up to the marina for a recce before we go in there tomorrow. It took us 10 minutes to walk there from the village centre so with George it should take about half an hour to get from the marina to the pub!

On our return we went in the Green Man, one of the 3 pubs in the village, we had one in there then moved to the Green Dragon, which we had been in last time we were here. Who should we find in there – Mick and Cathy, who we haven’t seen since Alrewas. Unfortunately we exceeded the stated again!

So this is the end of our 2010 cruise, except for the last half mile to the marina tomorrow. We will, of course go for mini cruises, for example to Swarkestone or Horninglow and back during the next 4 months, if the weather is ok, to prevent us getting stir crazy.
