{"id":185,"date":"2009-10-07T14:55:42","date_gmt":"2009-10-07T14:55:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.waveneytales.com\/?p=185"},"modified":"2009-10-07T14:55:42","modified_gmt":"2009-10-07T14:55:42","slug":"tamworth-to-nuneaton","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.waveneytales.com\/?p=185","title":{"rendered":"Coventry Canal &#8211; Tamworth to Nuneaton"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #808080;\">Today we have travelled about 7 miles from Tamworth, through Polesworth (very nice town), up the Atherstone flight\u00a0through&#8230;&#8230;you guessed it, Atherstone and are currently just outside Nuneaton. We did the Atherstone flight quite quickly actually, in about 2 hours. We were fortunate that at all but the last 3 locks someone was coming down so we could go straight in without having to empty them first. This obviously saves time. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #808080;\">There is a pub at the top of the flight. Unfortunately we missed it, much to George&#8217;s disgust! I had to console him with a packet of crisps!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #808080;\">I forgot to mention yesterday, because I was trying to do the post fast\u00a0as I had a dodgy network connection\u00a0(actually I had to dangle my dongle out of the window in order not to lose the connection!). Anyway,\u00a0yesterday we passed a couple of Halesworthians on the canal. Not only do they live in Halesworth but they live a few doors down from where we used to live! She said she thought she hadn&#8217;t seen us about lately! Small world.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #808080;\">Tomorrow we are hoping to get on to the Oxford Canal on the next leg of our trip.
