Tuesday 6th April<\/span><\/p>\n

We have finally left\u00a0on our cruise\u00a0–\u00a0hurrah! However, we have only made it as far as Junction lock – aaaargh!<\/span><\/p>\n

So how come we can still trip up and fall in to Thurmaston? Well, we checked the water level at Thurmaston lock before we left and it\u00a0had gone down into\u00a0the amber so we set off. As we passed The Hope and Anchor, yes I did say\u00a0PASSED (and it was open at the time too!) a BW man, who was pressure washing the mud off the moorings, shouted to us that the Soar was still in flood.\u00a0As we were only going to go as far as Sileby today we\u00a0thought we would risk it.\u00a0When we got to Junction lock we had a look at the water level and it certainly was in the red there. Also the wind had really got up so we decided to moor up and see what it was like later on. <\/span><\/p>\n

After a spot of lunch (liquid and otherwise) Ken inflated his Zodiac for the first time since he bought it in August! I did something far more interesting –\u00a0I polished\u00a0the brass (again!) Following this excitement we took George for a walk up to Cossington lock. He went quite well, for a change,\u00a0but was a bit disappointed to find there was no pub in the offing! Bless. The river was still in the red and as it was now mid afternoon we decided to stay where we were until tomorrow. There were a few boats on the move despite the high water and the wind. One chap told us it was a bit\u00a0chaotic\u00a0getting through\u00a0Sileby!<\/span><\/p>\n

Things have calmed down now so tomorrow we will be off …………. part 2!<\/span><\/p>\n
