There were still quite a few boats about, most of them going the opposite way to us (was it something we said?) and the majority\u00a0of them Canaltime boats. I was very careful\u00a0filling the large locks, especially Weston lock, after what happened last time we came up here! We shared\u00a0Swarkestone lock with a very nice couple in their late 70&#8217;s, who were still going strong and enjoying their boating. Ken realised there is hope for him yet!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #808080;\">After we moored up for the day Ken and I walked into the village, looking for\u00a0somewhere to buy a paper. Unfortunately the garage, although it did sell papers, only had the Star and the Sun left, so we went without! But all was not lost because &#8230;&#8230;&#8230;. lo and behold, we found a good pub! Called the &#8216;Crew and Harpur Arms&#8217; it is a large pub with a garden running down to the River Trent. As we have decided to stay here another night, tomorrow we will attempt to get George there\u00a0so he can review it!\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #808080;\">After the hustle and bustle of Trent Lock and the rather clamorous\u00a0neighbours on the pontoon, we are pleased to be moored in a peaceful spot tonight. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #808080;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #808080;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Monday 12th April We have had a good travelling day today arriving at Swarkestone mid afternoon.\u00a0It was cooler than the weekend but pleasant none the less.
