Monday 26th April<\/span><\/p>\n

Yesterday (Sunday)\u00a0morning was spent cleaning the outside of the boat. At least one of us was and the other one was reading the Sunday Times, you can work out which way round this was! We decided to go to The Woolpack at lunch time. George got off the boat and promptly laid down on the grass and refused to move an inch! Consequently he didn’t make it to the pub. Weston village is lovely with a real village green and some nice houses. Along the canalside there is a new development, very tasteful and expensive too I shouldn’t wonder. The pub was ok,<\/span> with seating overlooking the village green. The manager wasn’t the best though, a bit lacking in the ‘mine host’ department.\u00a0\u00a0Ken said he looked like an unmade bed!<\/span><\/p>\n

So having had a quiet weekend at Weston,\u00a0today we have\u00a0travelled about 6 miles (and 2 locks)\u00a0to Stone. This is quite a large town with all amenities and lots of boats. As usual our first attempt at mooring up was thwarted by shallow water but we moved further in to the town and found a nice spot right near the park. We managed to get George over there for a toddle AND we got him to The Star, ta da! He was like a different dog today, amazing. The Star is right on a lock, handy for\u00a0a spot of the old gongoozling\u00a0and is a really old pub. <\/span><\/p>\n

Later on Ken and I walked up the towpath, to the\u00a0top of the flight of locks, to assess the mooring situation further up, past the water point. This was\u00a0in case we want to stay another day after we have to fill up with water on Wednesday. Then we\u00a0went into town to suss out the shops. Stone is a very useful stop over as it has all the shops you want. Ken happened to spot a Wetherspoon’s too (we didn’t go in) a visit to which may be on tomorrow’s agenda!<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
