We have still only\u00a0travelled 4.5 miles to just outside Congleton where we are moored on the embankment that crosses the valley. The views from here are beautiful, on both sides as we are so high up. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #808080;\">We first moored in the\u00a0town for the usual, you know,\u00a0paper shop etc. As it happened we were\u00a0quite a way from the pub but for a change George didn&#8217;t seem to mind. Unfortunately, in spite of the close proximity of\u00a0two dog\u00a0poo bins,\u00a0most people who walk there appear to\u00a0have an aversion to picking up their dog mess so the path was a veritable mine field, pity!\u00a0On the other side of the canal, and just as well, was a man with a bulldog, staffie cross. Lovely dog, called Max, same age as George\u00a0and exactly the same temperament\u00a0when it comes to other dogs. In fact, I think he was worse than George because it looked as if he would have swum across the canal, if his owner had let him off the lead, to get to George, who was not taking a blind bit of notice of him it has to be said!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #808080;\">Later on we moved out of the town with the intention of getting to the bottom of Bosley Locks but when we came across this view we decided to stop here. It&#8217;s nice to be so high up and have\u00a0views on both sides. Usually all you can see are hedges when you&#8217;re inside the boat. We&#8217;ll probably stop here tomorrow as well before\u00a0we tackle the 12 locks in 1 mile Bosley flight.\u00a0They are the only locks on this canal so it&#8217;s all over in one go so to speak.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Saturday 15th May.
