Wednesday 2nd June<\/span><\/p>\n

Our 11th wedding anniversary!<\/span><\/p>\n

We’ve had a lovely day today. The weather has been great and we have travelled 6 miles and the one small lock, at Hall Green,\u00a0to Kidsgrove near Hardings Junction. Again we are moored between the scrap yard and the sewage works! Unfortunately today has been quite hot and there is the occasional niff from the latter! But never mind.<\/span><\/p>\n

Again we took George to the Red Bull and spent a pleasant hour gongoozling and drinking Double Hop, of course. We returned to the boat and sat about for a bit reading the paper etc.\u00a0Some dear little children appeared, with their mum. They had\u00a0a basket full of eggs, from their own chickens, which\u00a0they were selling for<\/span>\u00a0\u00a31 for half a dozen.\u00a0Well, I assume they were from their own chickens because when I asked the little lad if he had laid them himself he said yes! What luck, as I broke nearly all ours on the way back from the shop yesterday!\u00a0They were so sweet (the children, not the eggs) I gave them a \u00a32 coin and they were really chuffed, bless. <\/span><\/p>\n

For pre dinner nibbles Ken did anchovies on toast and we had\u00a0a bottle of champagne, which\u00a0we happened to find under the dinette. For dinner he did surf and turf (scampi and steak) with mushrooms, tomatoes, chips and peas, delicious! As he pointed out, we could have paid a lot of money for a meal like that if we had gone to\u00a0the pub. And I say it wouldn’t have been half as good either! <\/span><\/p>\n

This evening we have spent some time admiring the vocal capabilities of a thrush which regaled us with it’s song from a telegraph pole nearby, marvellous. We have also been treated to the vocal capabilities of our neighbour who was very informative about solar panels and cricket.<\/span><\/p>\n

It’s the Harecastle tunnel again tomorrow, in the direction of the closed end, so there will be no light at the end of the tunnel! Then we are going to stop at Westport Lake which we thought looked really nice on the way past. Maybe our fat dog will fancy a toddle round!<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
