A little early as Mum and Dave don’t arrive until Friday but I’m sure we can find things to do between now and then.

To cut a boring story short – Sunday at Festival Park we went shopping at Morrison’s in the morning, lounged around in the sun in the afternoon and went for a carvery in the evening.

Monday we made our way to Barlaston. A slight disaster occured in one of the locks in Stoke. There was a bit of a leak, meaning a jet of water was pouring in through the side of the lock after the water was let out. Unfortunately this water was pouring in at just the level of our portholes. Even more unfortunately the bedroom porthole was open! The only saving grace was that it was on the passage side and not on the actual bed side so only the floor got wet and not the bed!

Also, while we were doing the locks in Stoke, it started raining, great! It continued raining for much of the day. In the afternoon we managed to get George to walk down to the Plume of Feathers at Barlaston in the rain but he wasn’t very happy about it! We were unable to get either a TV signal or an internet signal where we were moored but as it was raining we couldn’t be bothered to move.

Today (Tuesday) as there was a lack of signals where we were in Barlaston we decided to move on to Stone. It was drizzling lightly when we set off and this got steadily worse. By the time we had travelled the 3 miles and 4 locks to Stone it was absolutely hammering down and we were both soaked!

George wasn’t having any of going for a walk so Ken and I went into town to buy an umbrella to replace the one that ‘disappeared’ a couple of weeks ago. We got two just in case. I made an appointment to have my unruly mop seen to. Luckily I was able to have it done this afternoon and have had it all cut off, hurrah! I have to say, the hairdressers I chose was not cheap but it was a very pleasant experience to go there. I had a glass of wine and a dish of raspberries and blueberries while I was having my hair done and the owner, who cut my hair, was a really lovely lady, we had a real laugh. I must make the effort to have my hair cut more often, if only I can find more hairdressers like that one!

This evening Ken was fishing and caught, amongst other things, a signal crayfish, see photographic evidence. It was quite a big one and nipped his finger while he was trying to unhook it! Ha Ha! We could have kept it to eat but one isn’t a lot of good on it’s own!

Tuesday 8th June We are now at Stone.
