(lots of pics in the gallery). We picked a bright and bold colour scheme and it’s turned out really well.

We were hoping the engine would be in this visit but although it has arrived and we had a look at it in the box (I, of course, was rivetted!!) it has been too windy to punt ‘Waveney’ out of the tunnel to fit it. Controlling a narrowboat in windy conditions is not easy WITH an engine but it is downwright impossible WITHOUT!

Some more interior fitting out has been completed though. The unit for the fridge, cooker and microwave is in and the rest of the kitchen base units. The dinette is underway too. So things are coming along nicely.

The chaps have got the Crick show at the end of the month so there will be about a week where they can’t do much on ‘Waveney’ as they will be preparing their stand for the show and travelling there and then spending 3 days trying to persuade people to have a boat built!

We are going to Thurmaston again at the beginning of June ( on our 10th wedding anniversary actually!). Things like – which toilet (very important!), sink, taps, upholstery for the dinette, blinds, flooring will all be finalised on this visit. We are also hoping to see the signwriter then.

It’s all getting really exciting. We took George with us this time as Peter is in Scotland and he had a cuddle with Rach in the office so he was happy. We couldn’t get him on the boat as the back end is not next to the pontoon and he can’t jump on the front, bless!

As we had George with us we couldn’t stay at our usual B&B so we went to the Travelodge at Six Hills. Not a bad stay although it’s a bit of a convoluted route to get there as it is on the opposite side of the dual carriageway to the one you travel on to get there. With this in mind we didn’t go to our usual pub at Syston in the evening we went up to the Waterside Inn at Mountsorrel. This is a very nice pub and will probably feature large in our trips with visitors as it will make a good day trip there and back from the boatyard.

Our house is getting emptier and emptier as we sell our goods and chattels with wild abandon! We have also started to transfer our ‘boat stuff’ to Thurmaston so we don’t have to move it all at once. Things like the new washing machine, freezer and microwave we are having delivered straight to the boat yard when we order them. Saves us a job!

Don’t forget to come back in June for the next fascinating installment!

Cheers B. xx

Hi all, Just got back from Thurmaston and we are soooo chuffed! ‘Waveney’ has now been painted and she looks absolutely fab!
