Saturday 25th June
Here we are, still at Hunts Locks, Northwich and still waiting to hear from the insurance company about our new prop. Actually, they are probably still waiting to hear from us with some more estimates for the work. We got one from Anderton Marina really quickly, which I emailed to them. The other marina we tried, Jalsea Marina, is hopeless, we have chased them up twice but have heard nothing! Yesterday we thought we would try and get a quote from Northwich Marina as well. We walked round there but their reception is closed until Monday, aaargh!
This isn’t a bad place to be loitering around, in fact it’s very nice but we just want to know what’s going on. Even when we do eventually get the go ahead we may still have to wait some time for the dry dock. We are about 10 mins walk from the town here and have been in and done some more shopping at Sainsbury’s. Tomorrow we must make a visit to the sanitary station for water etc which means taking the boat back in to Northwich town. We may come back here afterwards or go somewhere else for a couple of days. We are loath to travel too much now because the problem has definitely got worse recently especially in reverse. In fact reverse is practically non existent now, making stopping a tad difficult!
B and B left yesterday morning to go back to Thurmaston, hope they have a good trip and don’t miss us too much (like a hole in the head I expect!). We are already missing the Guntrip alarm clock. Which goes – ‘Woof Woof Woof – Mac shut up!’ – at about 6-30am/7-00am. Bless him.
George had a nice day yesterday, we took him to the Bowling Green pub which for us is about a 2 minute walk but for himself, with all the sniffing and the poncing about on the gravelly path, about 20 mins! If he’s a very good boy we may take him there again tomorrow. Talking of George he resembles elephant dog at the moment. He has developed a large lump on the side of his face. It wasn’t there this morning but it was when we got back from town. God knows what it is, it doesn’t seem to be bothering him a lot and it doesn’t seem to hurt him when you touch it. Ken tried to prize his jaws open to look in his mouth in case he had something wrong with his teeth but couldn’t get him to open up! Anyway, he stuffed his dinner and his chew down his neck like it was going out of fashion so not much wrong there. We’ll just have to keep an eye on it and see if it gets bigger or goes down.
Hoorah, we’ve finally got some sun now it’s nearly time to go to bed! This heat wave is going to be very short lived here I can tell you.
