Day in Middlewich

Thursday 30th June

We haven’t been anywhere today, by boat that is, so no updates on the state of the prop whine. Ken ran the engine in gear a couple of times and it seemed better but I don’t know if the fact that the boat wasn’t actually moving would make a difference. We are off to Wheelock tomorrow so I will let you know if we needed ear plugs!

We made another trip in to town this morning for more supplies. It’s amazing how often we seem to go shopping when we’re travelling. Little and often I suppose, although my rucksack always seems to be very heavy on the way back!

When we got back I cleaned the last of the dried on clay off the boat, which was deposited by the Anderton boat lift gate when we came up. It had set rock hard and was quite difficult to get off. We were going to move on later today but decided to stay until tomorrow so we took George for the trip to the pub he missed out on yesterday. He had a couple of pats, one from a passing salesman and one from the chef at the pub, who has 2 bull terriers. We actually saw them go past last night. And he had a nice sleep in the sun.

There are a lot of kids about today, must be the teachers’ strike!
