Saturday 23rd July
As you can see I lied and we have not started our descent of Heartbreak Hill at all, we have stayed here at Kent Green. It was such a lovely morning and we rather like this mooring, anyway I decided I just couldn’t be bothered to move!
We haven’t been idling away our time however, no I have been down the weed hatch again attatching something else to the prop. We have definitely decided to go back to Anderton and get it looked at properly. Then I did some cleaning inside the boat and did the ironing.
Ken has been adjusting the front fender which looked as though it had been in a fight! He has also painted the nose where we took the paint off on the Leeds and Liverpool. I know that was months ago but he has to be of a mind to tackle these jobs, no point rushing things! Oh, and he painted over the non slip tape which I put on the front while we were on the Rochdale, also months ago.
I painted the bow locker and gunwhale, (where the paint got worn off by the gang plank sliding from side to side somewhere we were moored up ages ago), on the side we aren’t using to get in and out and when we moor up on the other side I will do the other one. So we have made a start on our many jobs.
In the midst of this flurry of activity we also went to the shop and took himself to the pub again. Tomorrow we are definitely going to Kidsgrove as the need for Tesco’s is looming.
