Sunday 31st July
We have spent the last 2 days here at Middlewich and between the trips to the pub and Tesco’s have managed to paint one side below the gunwhale and touch up the back and the front of the boat – ta da! It looks really good at the moment but obviously as soon as we go in the first lock tomorrow some of it will be damaged! We will have to make a better effort to repair things before they get too bad. We have a pretty good match spray paint which we got from Wilko’s and are hoping to use that for any small running repairs which need doing. When we moor, in a suitable place, the other way round we will of course be doing the other side. The black needs doing as well but hey, we’ve made a start. We haven’t done inside the cratch because at the moment it is usually full of dog! We will do that when we get back to the marina in the winter when he won’t be using it.
Today on the way to Tesco’s we discovered a huge fishing tackle shop, Dave’s of Middlewich. Don’t ask me why we didn’t know it was here before. Had we have known it would have saved our fruitless trek around Crewe last week! We haven’t been in to town along the road we used today because we have always moored below the locks before and so have gone in from the opposite direction but I would have thought I would have tried to look up tackle shops in Middlewich on the internet before, obviously not. Never mind himself was happy.
Tomorrow we are going in to Anderton Marina so they can look at the prop, hopefully coming up with a solution to our whine and we have got to have a new set of batteries as well, ouch!
