Sunday 21st August
Today we have travelled 6 miles and the stop lock to Congleton and are moored on the embankment. When we arrived there was only one other boat here and we were able to moor up in the spot with the best view. We have never been able to get this spot before. It seemed to take ages to get here, we had to stop at Sherborne Wharf for diesel and water, then we had to wait while a boat tried to get out of the marina, then we were following someone really slow, then there was a boat coming the other way at every bridge!
B and B left Kidsgrove quite a while after us but had nearly caught us up by the time we got here. As it was 1 pm by the time they had moored up we declined the offer of a cup of tea and Ken and I headed off to the pub! When we got there we discovered they were showing the Norwich v Stoke match (outside on the patio as well as in the pub) so we had to watch it. Unfortunately Norwich managed to snatch a draw from the jaws of victory!
We are going to do Bosley Locks tomorrow because the forecast for Tuesday isn’t very good.
