Wednesday 24th August
5 hours travelling today brought us 12 miles from Gurnett to just outside Marple on the Peak Forest Canal. There was only one space actually in Marple, except for the one full of rocks and the rather precarious ones just round the corner on the Peak Forest Canal that is. We carried on for about half a mile after we went through Marple and found a nice mooring near some cottages.
Ken and I walked back into town to go to the shops – alright and the pub! While we were sitting outside The Ring ‘O’ Bells we were spotted by B and B, who had come in to town later but they cleverly managed to avoid joining us! Also while we were there a trip boat went past with 2 Buddhist Monks in the front! People sometimes like to do boat trips in fancy dress but these were not people in fancy dress, they really were Buddhist Monks, amazing!
It has rained on and off since we returned so there will be no fishing tonight. Tomorrow we are going to Bugsworth Basin for a couple of days before we tackle the Marple Flight. May be a bit of paint touching up will occur there!
