Monday 12th Sept and Tuesday 13th Sept
Monday and Tuesday we spent in Middlewich while we waited for B and B. On Monday we went to Crewe (same price bus fare as Anderton to Northwich but an hour long journey this time) and did yet more shopping. I would have thought that living in a confined space, as we do, we wouldn’t have to do so much shopping but there always seems to be something we need!
Later I got a call from Barbara, they were at Bramble Cuttings having had their alternator tested – there was nothing wrong with it. As there is nothing wrong with their batteries either it’s a mystery why they keep running out of power in the night.
Tuesday we went to Tesco’s (again) and stocked up for our trip up the Langollen. The next large shop is Tesco at Ellesmere, if we don’t go to Whitchurch. When we got back B and B had arrived and moored up behind us. They also wanted to go to Tesco and Barry and Ken wanted to go to the tackle shop (again) so it was decided that we would move on in the morning.
Meanwhile Barry contacted an electrical expert chap, whose number he had got off Danny at Anderton, to see if he could try and figure out what their charging problem could be down to. He couldn’t come to Middlewich (something to do with road works) but as we were heading in more or less the right direction Barry said they could detour a few miles towards Chester, stop at Beeston and the chap would come out to them there on Thursday.
George was funny, he decided he wanted to go out, for a wee I thought but he took me to the Big Lock pub! Unfortunately it was too early so we had to go all the way back and come out again later on! So he got two walks. When we did go to the pub later, after they were open, he had a lovely time. The chef came out and gave him some biscuits, Julie came out and gave him a pat, so did the barmaid and Julie’s son. Then he got barked at by their bull terrier which he didn’t seem to mind!
When we got back from the pub Ken and Barry went off to the tackle shop, both under orders not to buy any new rods and what did Ken do? He bought a new rod! As if he hasn’t got enough in the back room, on the dinette and hanging under the gunwhales already!
While this rod buying was going on I was touching up the paintwork again. It’s a lot easier if you keep on top of it I have discovered.
