Tuesday 20th September
It was pouring with rain when we got up this morning (you’d think we’d be used to it by now) and had we not been meeting Cathy and Mick at the Lion Quays we would have either – stayed at Ellesmere or waited to see if the rain eased later. But we had to get going rain or not.
We had to stop for water etc and managed to leave the water point just ahead of the hotel boat which has a butty as well so that was 2 boats less in the queue when we got to New Marton Locks. As it was there were 3 boats waiting to go up when we got there.
We arrived, rather bedraggled, at the Lion Quays about 1-45 pm by which time it had actually stopped raining. Cathy and Mick were already there and it was lovely to see them and catch up. We exceeded the stated dose of course.
B and B, rather sensibly, decided to leave later than us and stopped just below New Marton Locks. We are meeting up again at Chirk Marina tomorrow.
