Llangollen to Moreton

Sunday 25th September

We did have an extra day at Llangollen yesterday and Ken was useful, clearing out the gas locker, cleaning and drying it. I, on the other hand, did not do much useful at all, except the ironing. I had taken so many Piritons I was a bit jaded and the itching of the wasp stings (normally they just hurt I thought?) was driving me bonkers! I didn’t have much sleep the night before with the itching and the bloody ducks quacking all night so I was already tired before the Piritons took effect. The itching is still continuing to bug me today (3 days after the event) and to add insult to injury I have a mosquito bite as well now! All in all I am a miserable specimen!

Anyway, enough of my whinging, on to today’s trip. We have left Llangollen, after a nice little break and travelled back to the Lion Quays at Moreton. This was an incident packed 5 hour trip which included two narrows, two aqueducts, two tunnels and lots of hire boats; and which necessitated lots of queuing, reversing, stopping and starting. We fared better than B and B though who managed to get rammed by a day boat in the winding hole at Trevor!

Because we are on the Lion Quays moorings (so we could get to the Chinese restaurant later without crossing the A51) we went for a pint this afternoon and sat on the canalside patio with George. Tonight we have been to the aforementioned Chinese restaurant on the A51 near here and had an ‘All You Can Eat’ buffet for £10 each which was very nice.

Tomorrow we are going up the Montgomery Canal.
