Maesbury Marsh to Ellesmere

Wednesday 28th September

The fabulous weather continues, this morning there was quite a mist first thing but it soon burnt off and it has actually been HOT! Fortunately there has been a lovely breeze too. We left Maesbury Marsh at about 8-30am and after a sanitary stop and one prop clearing trip down the weedhatch, made it to the bottom of the locks at Welsh Frankton by 11-30am. B and B were already there and on their way up. We had to wait for a boat to come down before we could go up but that was the only delay and we were at the top by 12-30pm.

We then made our way to Ellesmere where we moored up the arm so we can make a few trips to Tesco’s! There were only 3 other boats here when we arrived but it has filled up since. B and B didn’t come up the arm they carried on past the marina and when we saw them later they said there was only one free space round there when they got there.

Before the first of our trips to Tesco’s we took George to the Market Tavern. On the way he was accosted by a lady outside a shop who wanted to pat him. He wasn’t going to pass up the opportunity for a bit of fuss! She said Bull Terriers were her favourite dogs so she got a real treat when round the corner came a black and white Bull Terrier puppy. He looked just like we have imagined George may have looked when he was a puppy, he was so cute. George eyed him with some suspicion. I expect he was thinking that is a funny looking dog!

After we got back from the town we made our first foray in to Tesco’s, there will be another tomorrow no doubt!
