Ellesmere to Bridge 37 – Boat and Hair Maintenance!

Thursday 29th September

It has continued to be hot which is unusual but very welcome! At 7-30 this morning the pile driver on the building site, which had not stopped until 6-30 pm last night, started again in earnest, it drives you mad! Today Ken decided to check the batteries and clear come of the gunk out of the bilge, yuk! I got fed up with watching him so I went in to town for a look round the shops. I skillfully avoided Vermuellens (sp?), the fantastic delicatessen and bakery and just bought a paper, dog food, some fire lighters and matches. What on Earth do I need firelighters and matches for in this weather? Well, I don’t at the moment but it’s no good getting caught out when the weather finally goes back to normal is it?

On the way back I called in to one of the many hairdressers and managed to get an appointment for later today and finally had my unruly mop chopped off, hurrah! It only took 35 mins and cost £15, very reasonable as it was practically a restyle.

Another trip to Tesco’s was made as well and as we were told at the checkout we could have the wheels on the trolley unlocked and take it to the boat I didn’t bother packing the shopping in to bags. However, when we asked the chap to unlock the trolley he said they didn’t allow that any more. I then had to pack all the shopping in the bags so we could carry it! He did offer to help us carry the stuff to the boat but we managed.

B and B, who had left earlier this morning let us know they were moored at Bridge 37.  So as it was a lovely afternoon and as the pile driver was getting on our wick and as we had done all we had to do in Ellesmere we made an unprecedented decision to move on (unheard of for us!) We arrived behind them about 6 pm! It is a very nice spot and quiet.

As we have been past it three times and never stopped, tomorrow we are going to Whitchurch.
