Wednesday 26th October to Saturday 29th October
Wednesday we went on to Branston and moored at the water park. We took himself for a stroll to the Bridge Inn. It was a glorious day so we could sit outside (just as well because he isn’t allowed in the pub!) in the garden. In the afternoon we went for a walk round the water park (sans dog though) and then went to the handily situated pet shop for canine supplies.
Thursday it was wet and we did briefly toy with the idea of staying at Branston but as it was not absolutely tipping down and they had forecast fog for Friday we decided to move on to Willington. We were really lucky when we got there as there was one perfect space just in the village, opposite the Dragon.
The Dragon was being refurbished when we were last here, in fact it reopened the day after we left in March so we hadn’t seen the improvements. It is very nice and George was gratified to find he is still allowed in!
In the afternoon we went down to the vets and got himself booked in for his overhaul. He is going in next Tuesday at 10-30am. He needs his claws cut, including one front one which has grown into his paw, his ear cleaned out, his teeth cleaned and his eye looked at, bless. He has got to have a general anaesthetic so the vet can do everything without risking life and limb! Seriously though, it will also be less stressful for George if he is asleep during the procedures, you remember what happened last time.
Friday morning we took a stroll up to the Marina and told them we were coming back in on Monday as George has to be at the vets on Tuesday morning. We have been moved down a couple of spaces from where we were last time because they are putting a wide beam in what was our space. We are now going to be the other side of ‘Sanity’ (some may say we already were) who we were sharing a pontoon with last time and will now be sharing with ‘Meredith’, a hire boat from Hillmorton.
Saturday we hung around in Willington as the BW chap had already been so he wouldn’t know if we had over stayed. Everyone else had the same idea because nobody moved! Ken checked the batteries and I did a bit of cleaning outside. A chap came along and offered me £2-50 an hour to do his, his wife said he was a tight git!
Sunday we are going up to the Ragley Boat Stop with Mick and Cathy.
