Fradley to Alrewas

Tuesday 25th October

Sunday we did stay at Fradley and watched the Rugby World Cup Final, well done the All Blacks! Then we took George round Fradley Pool again and did some more gongoozling outside the Black Swan. At one point we were surrounded by dogs but they were all positioned such that George couldn’t see them which was lucky!

Monday we moved on 2 miles and 3 locks to Alrewas where we moored above the Alrewas Lock. When we got there the moorings were empty except for a boat on the water point, so we took our pick and moored on the end just past there. Which just happened to be the very spot the people on the water point had been hoping to get into when they finished filling up – as they told us when they reversed past us to moor up themselves!

We seemed to be in everyone’s way actually because later on, when the only space left was behind us, under a willow tree, the chap who moored up there asked us if we were going soon so he could move back and get his solar panels up! Ken said that no we weren’t moving soon.

Today we have been in to Burton on the bus. Good old Burton, it’s nearly 8 months since we were last there. We did a bit of shopping, remembering where the shops we wanted to go to were, then we met Mick and Cathy.

Tomorrow we are going to Branston and then to Willington on Thursday. We are hoping to get himself in the vets for a bit of an over haul and I need another hair cut.

At the weekend, if Mick’s shoulder is up to it we are all going the Ragley Boat Stop. Mick and Cathy haven’t done large locks so Stenson should be fun!
