Normal Service Has Been Resumed!

Monday 5th March

Just when you thought it was safe and this website had disappeared into the ether, normal service has been resumed. Thanks to my fabulous and much younger brother, for sorting out the hackers again, bless!

So what have you missed? Well, we finally left the marina last Wednesday but we didn’t manage to leave all of the residents behind as Mick and Cathy cadged a lift to The Ragley Boat Stop with us! We had another good steak meal, exceeded the stated wine dose (again) and then they got a taxi back to Mercia.

We decided to make the most of the good weather and travelled down to Trent Lock on Thursday (via The Malt Shovel and the New Inn at Shardlow) and then to the other side of Loughborough (via The Plough at Normanton) on Friday.

As the forecast for Sunday was atrocious we decided to come in to MGM Saturday rather than Monday and arrived (via The Hope and Anchor at Syston) Saturday afternoon. As you can see we are still trying to keep the country’s pubs open! We are currently moored up the back water sandwiched between Pete and Carol!

Sunday was a washout so we were glad we didn’t have to travel anywhere. We did walk to the shop at the top of Melton Rd and The Harrow (which has not improved a lot) but not much else.

Today we took George for a walk to Birstall to visit his favourite pub, The Old Plough, but unfortunately it wasn’t open! We had to go to the White Horse instead so as not to disappoint him totally of course! He did very well to get there and back as it is quite a long way, I don’t think we will get him to go there again this week!

Tomorrow we are going to walk in to Leicester (6 miles) along the canal.
