Friday 23rd March
Today dawned misty again but as we couldn’t use the locks until 10 am this was not a problem as it had cleared a bit by then. There are 7 locks in the Buckby/Whilton flight and this coupled with a distance of only 4 miles took about 3 hours.
There was a slight altercation at the second lock because the people waiting to come up thought we had filled the lock when it was in their favour but it was actually the lock keeper who had filled it after letting some water down in to the pound below to get them off the bottom. Barbara soon put them straight!
When we got to Weedon we moored up too soon really. We are quite a long way from the part of the village where the shop is but it is always wise to get in to a mooring if you see one just in case there aren’t any more. On our way back from the shop/pub we noticed there were a few more moorings further up, nearer the village and it’s a bit nicer than where we are but, as we are only going to stop one night, none of us could be bothered to move.
The current plan is to go to Stoke Bruerne for the weekend.
