Thursday 29th March
We had a very fruitful morning this morning doing a few chores. Namely – I cleaned the boat and retouched the paintwork, Ken checked the batteries and we cleaned the chimney together. All of which only took until lunchtime. It takes us more time to think about doing things and then to get round to doing them than they actually take! At least I can open the fire door now without the whole boat filling up with smoke.
We then took a stroll to The Galleon Pub at Old Wolverton which took about 15 minutes. We didn’t take George because it was too hot for him to walk that far. We may take him tomorrow though as it is supposed to be cooler.
Talking of tomorrow, I did say we were going to move on through Milton Keynes but now we aren’t. There are serious water problems at Tring and we have heard that the 14 day moorings on the summit have been restricted to 24 hours. This means we can’t stay there for a week at Easter, as we had planned, while Barbara goes to Portugal. So we are currently having a rethink and in the meantime we are staying here until Tuesday so Barbara’s daughter and her husband can come and visit on Monday.
As there is no shop here (except the small caravan site one, not open until April 1st) B and B walked to Tesco’s this afternoon, taking about 40 minutes. They came back bearing gifts of doughnuts (yum) which we received in exchange for a cup of tea. We have also decided a trip to Tesco’s is called for so we will have to walk up there tomorrow.
Both the boys have been fishing this evening and have caught fish which make my little finger look like a shark!
